Milestones

So far our group has made some great progress on finishing our project. I would say that two big milestones that we have accomplished would be, that we finished our script/storyboard and the other milestone would be that we have basically finished filming. We have one more scene to shoot and as long as the video we have already shot looks good then we are pretty much done with that aspect of the project. We also still have to make our screencast and do our voiceover work as well. I would say two big hurdles we may encounter would be, trying to make everyone’s writing of the paper come together into one flowing cohesive paper, and I would also say that editing the video to make all of our shots look professionally done might also be somewhat of a challenge.

With all of this being said I don’t see us having much trouble getting by these hurdles because our team is very talented and we work well together. A couple people in our team have expressed how good they are with editing using audacity and other programs that we have learned in class. We can easily use the screencast tool that we were shown in class to add another element to our video that will help us further describe the mock interview process. We can then use the video editing software to drowned out the real sound and insert our voice overs. When filming we also used the filming techniques we were taught by filming the same scene from multiple angles. This will give us some options when editing as far as choosing the best footage for a certain scene. This will also make our video seem more professional and help the viewer more easily understand the point we are trying to get across. With our teamwork, the tools we were given in class, and the techniques we were taught there is no doubt in my mind we will have a great project.

  1. First off Mark, we used the same Milestone Hurdler image! Great minds think alike. That expression could also apply to our group because even when we took the break from group script writing (which was not working for us at all), we separated and came back together with our own expressions of a very similar concept. I could not agree more that editing is the next major hurdle. Fortunately most of our video looks good. I am glad we took the advice to get multiple shots of just about everything. The options are really helping out. When all is done, I wonder how many of our people hours will culminate in a 2 minute video.

  2. Hey Mark! I agree that editing is going to be a major hurdle to overcome, it is probably the most important part of creating a video. I think we will be okay and we will create an amazing video! I also agree that it will hard to create a paper that flows right when we all write differently. We each have a different style so let’s see how it goes! But I also think we will all work really well together and create a kickass paper!

  3. I feel as if everyone has similar hurdles to overcome. Now that you mention it I did not even think about everyone’s different writing styles. I wonder how this will play into the quality of the paper and is definitely something to think about. Perhaps only having a group of two could be a blessing in disguise, especially if we have similar writing styles. But, I know for a fact that only having two members in my group is going to come with other struggles. With regards to your team, it sounds as if everyone in your group seems to know what they are doing so that is a sign of positivity. Good luck!

  4. Hi Mark! I believe that so far, our group has been fantastic when it comes to overcoming obstacles. We have managed to find a way to analyze a situation, break it down, tackle it, and find the solution. Additionally, I could not agree with you more that editing this video is going to be the next major hurdle our group faces. So far, it looks as though we have gathered some solid footage from the shoot. Like Jarrod, I am glad that we took multiple shots of each scene so we have options to work with in editing!
