Adding unlicensed media to our projects

So far my group has made some considerable progress on our final project. We have finished our story board, and wrote our script, now we just need to put it into action. Using the Creative Commons Search Engine I found a video, a picture, and a song that I think we can implement into our project. The video I found shows a time lapse of a busy city street which I believe we can utilize for our opening scene. I think we can show something like this with a voiceover explaining why career services is needed. The picture I found shows an official looking email that we can copy and use in our video. In our script we have a student that receives an email for an interview for a really good job he had applied for. We can copy the picture of the email that I found and use it as a guideline of how an official email should look. We can than create an email offering this student an interview and have him open it up so it looks like he really received it. The song I found I believe would be perfect to play in the background as our screencast is being played. Screencasts are usually pretty boring so adding some music in the background can help spice it up and make it a good scene. What our screencast is showing is the student going to the mock interview section of the career knight site and trying it out. Utilizing our script and some of this added media I am sure our group will continue its great work and come up with a great final product. We have all shown to have some value to the group and have all worked well together thus far.

  1. Ha! Mark, at first I was a bit curious about the email that I saw in your post. Then I realized that it was the image you chose. In my defense, it is pretty late so my brain is not functioning at full capacity. The music was cool. I think you nailed finding a video that showed a fast paced world that could be a little intimidating for new college graduates. How easily did you stumble upon it? We may have to put you in charge of stock video finding, lol. It feels like we have a lot of options now and that makes me less nervous – because I had trouble finding video!

  2. Hey Mark! I think it’s awesome that you found a stock photo of an email we can use…I didn’t even think to do that! That is definitely going to help us out a lot. I also think that the music you selected was cool and fit the overall theme and tone that we are trying to set for this film. Like Jarrod, I also think that you were spot-on with This could be an image that is striking to new college graduates and will leave them searching for help at Career Services! I am so glad that you were able to find some different material, as we now have a solid library of Creative Commons compatible material that we can use for this final video!

  3. Hey Mark! I liked the image of the email that we can use, and photoshop to say what we need it to say. The music you found fits with what everyone else has chosen as an uplifting piece to be used as background in our video. The music will probably be used, we can always blend and combine the pieces we want together. I agree with Jarrod I think the video was perfect and will be used in our video to show the “hustle and bustle” of the real world, especially NYC. I think between the four of us we will have some pretty great material to work with.
